Attention has been drawn to the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Beijing regarding social media posts (WeChat messages) by some Ugandan Nationals in China urging Ugandans who need passport renewals to contact them.
The Embassy has informed the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Uganda of a possible racket of individuals illegally handling immigration issues and reiterates that the only Authority responsible for recommending Ugandan Nationals in the diaspora to renew their passports, is the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda. Whoever deals with another individual other than Embassy officials does so at his/her risk.
The Embassy reassures the Ugandan Community in China of continuous support in facilitating renewal of old passports to the new East African E-Passports and further encourages all those who have nos renewed their passports to do no before 4th April 2022 to avoid possible last-minute inconveniences.
